Depending on the child's age, you can say that the baby grows from an egg in the mommy's womb, pointing to your stomach, and comes out of a special place, called the vagina. Many of these programs have resulted in delayed sexual debut, reduced frequency of sex and number of sexual partners, increased condom or contraceptive use, or reduced sexual risk-taking. Sex trafficking victims are often physically abused and tortured. The following is a series of questions adapted from the US Department of Health and Human Services that guide healthcare providers to screen an individual in order to determine whether she is a victim of sex trafficking. Kids should know that if anyone ever touches them in a way that feels strange or bad, they should tell that person to stop it and then tell you about it. Victims of sex trafficking are likely exposed to adverse conditions that can negatively affect their physical, mental, and emotional health.
The US Department of State estimates that anywhere from 14, to 17, people are trafficked in the United States annually.
